• Population: Total population
• ABD: Aged, Blind, or Disabled
• Children: Age 0–18
• Limited: Program to help pay Medicare cost-sharing expenses
• Other: Smaller eligibility groups (former foster care, breast and cervical cancer program, non-citizens)
• POCR: Parents and Other Caretaker Relatives
• Plan First: Limited program that provides family planning services
• Pregnant Women: During pregnancy and 60 days postpartum
• Total: Total Medicaid beneficiaries
• Percent: Total percent of population

The counties in blue are large fringe metro counties; the counties in the lighter blue are medium metro counties; the counties in the lightest blue are small metro counties. The counties in light orange are micropolitan counties; and the counties in the darker orange are noncore counties. In the map on the right, the black belt counties are in the darker gray and the other counties in the lighter gray. For both maps, the red dots are the county seats.
